Margarita Sala Gaschen 2017 raku fired bowl
9cm High x 16cm Diameter
Margarita Sala Gaschen is one of Spain’s most accomplished ceramic artists. Born in Barcelona in 1947, she studied at the Massana School of Applied Arts specializing in ceramics from 1965 to 70 and has exhibited and been avidly collected since 1968.
Finding her work is no longer easy.
The raku technique used on this piece is by definition a firing process in which the piece is removed from the kiln when bright red hot and subjected to post firing reduction or smoking by placing in a container with combustible materials. This blackens the raw clay and creates cracks in glazes. As with all things, there is the master artisans touch applied to create this beautiful piece.
