Not much is known about the artist Adelfio Speranza however as the title of the painting is 'Syracuse the Port' we imagine the artist being inspired by the beauty of Syracuse on the south-eastern coast of Sicily, an historic city known for its rich Greek and Roman heritage boasting stunning ancient ruins. This artwork was found in a flea market in Noto, a charming town in south-eastern Sicily renowned for its stunning Baroque architecture. The town is UNESCO World Heritage site set against a picturesque backdrop of rolling hills and offers a peaceful picturesque atmosphere.
